Really good documentry about Peter Sellers filmed by Peter Sellers on his 16mm home camera, which made him richer than Spike by 8mm. Was recently released on a BBC DVD. Screen shots, clips to follow as soon as I repair my computer at home (mine got fried in an electrical storm! So I'm using my girls ' computer.)
This profile revisits the classic Arena trilogy devoted to actor Peter Sellers (1925-1980) in 1995, which was prompted by the discovery of the extraordinary collection of film that Sellers had shot himself. Arena has returned to that treasure trove, an archive so comprehensive that the original trilogy has been abridged, recounting the Sellers story exclusively through his private films.
On set, at home, on vacation or in carefully stage-managed scenarios, they feature his family—his wives Anne Levy, Britt Ekland and Lynne Frederick, his children Michael, Sarah and Victoria, and such friends and colleagues as Princess Margaret, Lord Snowdon, Orson Welles, Sophia Loren, Spike Milligan, Herbert Lom and Blake Edwards. This version of The Peter Sellers Story represents a new kind of biography: the viewer is invited into a magical, intimate world entirely of Sellers’ own making.
