'I can safely say that this was the happiest professional period of my life. I never had such fun, enjoyment or fulfilment either before or since...' Peter Sellers 1972

TV recording of a radio broadcast from 5 October 1972, reuniting the Goons as part of the BBC's 50th anniversary celebrations. The event was a wonderful occasion, for - even if the humour was not quite on a par with the Goon Shows of old - this was clearly a much-loved old pals reunion for Sellers, Milligan and Secombe, with Prince Philip and Princess Anne among the enthusiastic studio audience. (The show's biggest royal fan, Prince Charles, couldn't attend but sent a telegram read out at the start of the show.) A BBC record album of the event (actually a different edit from both the radio and TV versions) was awarded a silver disc, racking up highly impressive sales figures for a comedy album.

A few days after this TV presentation the Goons reunited again as the hosts of Festival Of Entertainment (BBC1, 31 December 1972), an international Variety spectacular.
