THE BED SITTING ROOM - Cast photographed by Barry Lategan
In the 1960's Barry Lategan photographed a number of stars of the day, such as Twiggy and Spike (and lots of other people). He has very kindly sent me the original contact sheets from a photo session with the cast from the bed sitting room.

My thanks to Barry Lategan.
Barry Lategan was born in South Africa in 1935, and came to England to study at the Old Vic Theatre School. He developed an interest in photography while on National Service in Germany, and after training with Ginger Odes in Cape Town, returned to London in the early 1960s to open a photographic studio. He produced photographs for Leonard's of Mayfair, one of London's top hair salons and in 1966 took the first studio pictures of schoolgirl would-be model, Twiggy, after Leonard had 'discovered' her in the salon.
The photographs were used by the Daily Express and the rest is history. Lategan is still friends with Twiggy and has taken her portrait many times, his 1972 portrait of her is in the V&A collection. Lategan also made a name for himself in advertising as well as fashion, and his work has appeared in Vogue, Elle, Harpers and Life. He has won numerous awards, both for his photography and his for TV commercials.
After living in the US throughout the 80s, Barry Lategan now lives and works in London.
